About this page

Sometimes, Web browsers can make it difficult to navigate to an IP address instead of searching for it. This can prevent you from easily logging into your router.

As a workaround, here's a list of links to common router IP addresses. Find the one for your router, and you should be able to follow the link right to your router's Web-based configuration interface.

If you aren't sure which one is yours, check below for instructions on finding your router's IP address.

What to do once you get there is beyond the scope of this site, but there's plenty of information elsewhere on the Web at sites like Setup Router.

A few clarifications to keep the legal department happy: We're not responsible for the contents of third-party Web sites. That includes whatever you find at the listed router IP addresses, whether it's your router's configuration interface or something else. (These addresses usually point to routers, but we can't promise they'll never go anywhere else.) We're not responsible for what you do after logging into the router, either, so change settings at your own risk.

Also, this information is primarily for home users with typical home or small-office routers. If you're in a corporate environment, you should check with your IT department, but they probably don't want you poking around in the router anyway.

Find your router's IP address

On mobile devices, tablets, and some computers, you can just open your wi-fi settings and select the network you're currently connected to. (Sometimes you can just click on the network name. Other times there's an icon you can click for more information.) The router's IP address will usually be included in the information that comes up.

It can be trickier on Windows computers. The quicker method is to open a command prompt, type ipconfig and hit enter, then find the section for your current network. Another option is to open Network Connections (click “Change adapter settings” in Network and Sharing Center), double-click the icon for the current network, and then click “Details.” The router's IP address should be listed as the “default gateway” or “IPV4 default gateway.”

Mac OS X computers also may not show list the information as soon as you click the network name. In that case, you'll need to open System Preferences, click “Network,” and then click the “TCP/IP” tab. The router IP address should be listed as “Router.”

If your computer or device shows you its own IP address but not the router's, you can typically find the router's address by starting with your device's address and changing the last number to 1. For instance, if your computer's IP address is 192.168.1.123, your router's is probably 192.168.1.1.
